The Trust Announces Design-Build Team for $400M Modernization of Nostrand Houses Apartments

The New York City Public Housing Preservation Trust has selected our team, SLSCO LP d/b/a Community Modernization Group (CMG), as the design-build partner for a transformative $400 million renovation of over 1,000 apartments at Nostrand Houses.
With Trust Board approval granted on July 8, 2025, this project represents a significant milestone in delivering resident-centered improvements to the first New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) development to join the Trust. This extensive renovation will feature full kitchen and bathroom upgrades, removal of hazardous materials such as lead-based paint, elevators, windows and plumbing replacement, and electrical system upgrades. Residents will play an active role in shaping the design, including finishes and colors.
The Trust will oversee all aspects of the design and construction, ensuring that Nostrand Houses remains 100% public housing under the federally funded Project-Based Section 8 program, preserving affordable rents and safeguarding resident rights.
