BELLEVUE HOSPITAL
462 First Ave, New York City, NY 10016
Client: New York City Health + Hospitals
Sweet Group was contracted by NYC H+H to perform general contracting services at the Bellevue Hospital on the 19E Forensic Unit. We were responsible for the oversight and management of general contracting services and MEP trades at Bellevue Hospital. This project involves removal of existing offices and patient rooms and expansion of the existing forensic psychiatry unit to add new patient rooms, nurses’ station, supply/work areas, seclusion room, and shower room. This area of the hospital is occupied and under jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections as part of the patient care program.
The work took place in an active hospital setting requiring Sweet Group to follow ICRA guidelines of performing construction in patient and staff areas of the hospital. ICRA consists of guidelines including, but not limited to:
-
Dust containment to the construction space as to not affect hospital operations or create exposure
-
Noise mitigation measures
-
Vibration control
-
Pressurization & Ventilation control
We worked in areas of the 19th floor that were actively occupied by the Department of Corrections and where patients were being provided with healthcare and psychiatric services. This project also saw review from the Department of Health and the Office of Mental Health.
