Sweet was selected to support the first phase of a critical infrastructure upgrade at Northwell Health’s Syosset Hospital. The project involves consolidating five independent chilled water systems into a single, centralized system to enhance reliability, efficiency, and redundancy for the hospital's cooling infrastructure.

 

Currently, the facility operates five separate chilled water systems totaling 960 tons of cooling capacity. However, the main operating rooms and patient care areas lack system redundancy. The hospital’s actual estimated cooling load is approximately 600 tons, making system consolidation both a strategic and energy-efficient solution. The new centralized system will be designed with N+1 redundancy to ensure uninterrupted operation of mission-critical areas.

 

Phase 1 Scope of Work Includes:

• Demolition of the existing absorber unit

• Procurement and installation of two new 150-ton air-cooled Trane chillers on the west side of the property

• Installation of all associated chiller piping, electrical infrastructure, and control systems

• Removal of one existing chiller at the installation site

• Construction of a new electrical room

• Coordination and installation of a new 480V PSEG transformer to power the new systems
