In March 2020, USACE engaged AECOM and the SLS team to provide critical emergency medical care facilities and services to Suffolk County residents in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Within 48 hours of mobilization, the SLS team began converting the SUNY Westbury campus into a full-service field hospital, employing the services of multiple subcontractors and over 300 trade personnel.  In a 21-day period, SLS performed a complete gym conversion and erected four hospital tent structures capable of accommodating 1,100 acute and non-acute patients.
